Organisation
The London Art Biennale was established in 2013 and has been held seven times since, in the same building, without missing an edition. Each one gathers around 300 artists from some 60 nations, selected on the submitted work alone — painting, works on paper, sculpture, applied arts and digital work, shown without a theme.
It is curated jointly by three bodies with different reasons for being there — a critics’ confederation, an Italian art museum and a Chelsea gallery — and directed from an office in London. Admission has been free at every edition, and the raffle held alongside it has sent tens of thousands of pounds to charity.
