The next edition of the London Art Biennale, opening in 2027.
The VIII Edition of the London Art Biennale will take place in 2027, following seven editions held since 2013.
Preparations are already under way for the Biennale’s most ambitious edition to date, with a broader international field, an expanded programme and plans being developed further in advance than in previous years. Confirmed information will be published here as the 2027 edition takes shape.
Our history
Since 2013, the London Art Biennale has taken place every two years, presenting around 300 artists from some 60 nations at each edition. Selection is based on the submitted work alone, there is no prescribed theme, and admission has remained free throughout.
Charitable giving has formed part of every edition. Artists and collectors donate works, tickets are sold over the course of the exhibition, and the proceeds are given in full to charity. The donation has traditionally been presented by the sitting Mayor of Kensington and Chelsea.
At the VII Edition in 2025, £13,000 was awarded across five prize categories, with a sixth award presented by World Art Dubai. The award fund is set separately for each edition, with details for 2027 to be announced.
Open to the public
The VIII Edition will include a private view followed by public opening days. Admission to the London Art Biennale will remain free, with full dates and visiting information to be announced ahead of the 2027 edition.
A new selection
Around 300 artists will be selected for the VIII Edition on the strength of the work submitted. The exhibition will bring together a new international field of artists across a broad range of contemporary practice.
Partners for the eighth
Partnerships for the VIII Edition are being developed alongside the programme itself, while there is still scope for them to play a meaningful part in the exhibition.
Discussions are taking place now with a limited number of prospective partners for 2027.
The VIII Edition so far
The VIII Edition will take place in 2027. Admission will remain free, selection will be based on the work submitted, and the exhibition will continue without a prescribed theme. Prizes will again be awarded across a number of categories.
Some details are still being developed. Dates and venue have not yet been announced, and the submission timetable and prize fund are still to be confirmed. Updates will be published as each part of the 2027 edition is settled.
